Carole M. Hoffman, 78, of Meadville died Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Marquette Hospice House.
She was born February 18, 1941 in Rockwood, PA a daughter of Reid E. and Lola F. (Barkman) Whipkey. She married Clark J. Hoffman November 26, 1959 and he survives.
She was a 1959 graduate of Rockwood High School and worked several places over the years including first at a Red & White Grocery Store when she was still in school, Chardon Rubber Co. in Chardon, OH, as a school bus driver for the Simon Kenton School and Workshop in Kenton, OH and for Chardon Local Schools in Chardon, OH.
She was a lifetime Lutheran and attended Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church in Saegertown. She was very active serving as board member and President of several community organizations. She was an avid golfer and bowler and was past secretary/treasurer of many golf and bowling leagues she participated in. She also enjoyed fishing and crocheting.
Carole loved her family deeply and was the family historian, keeping track of extended family member's birthdays and anniversaries. Every year she would put together a family pocket calendar with this information that was included in her Christmas cards. Family was very important to her, she made sure that at each family function and reunion photos were taken and kept in albums.
Survivors, in addition to her husband Clark of 59 years, include: three daughters, Chelley Bond (Mark) of Mentor, OH, Cindy Volpe (Dan) of Willoughby, OH and Caren Frank (Chris) of Camas, WA; five grandchildren, Sarah Byrne (Steve), Ryan Bond, Danny Volpe, Anthony Volpe and Reid Frank; two great granddaughters, Harper and Hannah Byrne; four sisters, Miriam Schrock of Ypsilanti, MI, Maxine Temple (Raymond) of Rockwood, PA, Eileen Baker (Dale) of Markleton, PA and Lois Sembower (Robert) of Somerset, PA; a brother, Blair Whipkey (Rena) of Rockwood, PA and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dwight Schrock.
Calling hours will be Friday, September 27th from 4-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, INC., 581 CHESTNUT STREET, MEADVILLE.
The memorial service will be Saturday, September 28th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
