On September 16, 2022, Carol Luvera passed away peacefully at Creekside Memory Care after her brave journey with dementia. Carol was born December 31, 1935, in Seattle, Washington, to Helen and Vincent Ryan. Carol is survived by her brother Bud Ryan of Anacortes and predeceased by her brother Jack Ryan, her sister Jan Ryan and her sister-in-law Joanne Ryan (Bud).
Carol is also survived by her eight children, Nick Luvera (Kelly) of La Conner, Dan Luvera (Janae) of Burlington, Diane Luvera (Tim) of Oak Harbor, Susan Chiabai (Ron) of Burlington, John Luvera (Dana) of Coupeville, Theresa Baldwin (Chris), Michael Luvera (Christine) and Elizabeth Luvera, all of Mount Vernon. Carol is also survived by twenty grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Carol found great joy in serving in her many volunteer roles over the years at Immaculate Conception School and Church. She was also proud of the other community events that she was a part of such as, the annual Festival of Trees and the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
She raised eight children with integrity, love, compassion, and faith in God. She most especially loved her grandchildren and was involved in every moment of their lives; she never missed a birthday party, sports game or event. She touched countless lives outside of her family as well, loving and helping them through their problems - that is just who she was. Her favorite saying was, "This too shall pass." She was right. She lived her whole life with eternity in mind, and she remained strong and faithful to God until her last breath here on earth with her children surrounding her.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church located at 215 North 15th Street in Mount Vernon, WA on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00 P.M. The Luvera family has chosen to forgo a reception in order to have time together to celebrate the life of their mother.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Immaculate Conception Regional School.
Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home. You may offer your condolences and share memories of Carol to her family online at www.kernfuneralhome.com.
