Carol F. Hendricks of Watertown passed away on October 26, 2021, age 91, at The Gardens Nursing Home in Winsted, Minnesota.
Carol was born on January 3, 1930, the oldest daughter of Frank and Marion (Shaust) Florek Jr. in rural Wright County.
Carol attended and graduated from Watertown High School in 1948 where she met her future husband, Dean M. Hendricks. They began dating as sophomores and finally married on February 6, 1951 in North Agusta, South Carolina where Dean was stationed in the army, before spending the rest of 1951 in Korea during the Korean War. After his discharge, he graduated from the University of Minnesota in the field of Education. Upon graduation, he taught in the Wayzata Public School system and moved back to Watertown. While teaching school, they had the summers free and traveled extensively to 48 out of 50 U.S. states, all except Delaware and Hawaii, highlighted in 1988 driving to Alaska on the Alcan Highway through Canada, stopping at all National Parks, historic points of interest and natural wonders, also all Canadian Provinces and major point of interest in Mexico.
Carol also bore five children, Deanne 1953, David 1955, Donald 1956, Douglas 1959, and Daniel 1970.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marion in 1981; her father, Frank in 1986; and a sister, Donna in 2020.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Dean, age 90; her five children; and two sisters, who are twins, Marlis McNellis of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Marlene Zdawczyk of North Hollywood, California.
Services are pending until her ashes from the National Cremation Society are received and out of state relatives and friends can make arrangements, if intending to come.
