On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Carol Ann Fort, 86, peacefully went home to heaven. She was greeted in heaven by her parents, a special sister-in-law Nelda and many beloved family pets. She was born June 20, 1936, in Pekin, Illinois to Richard A and Millicent (Johnson) Sheppert.
Carol attended Pekin High School in Pekin, Illinois and went on to graduate from Illinois Wesleyan College with a BS degree in business administration. Carol was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor society. She worked as a business assistant at Keystone Steel and Wire Co. from 1958 to 1965. She was the office manager at Midwestern Wood Products from 1973 until 1988. In 1998 Carol retired from We Care Inc in Morton, Ill where she was the financial manager. She went on to enjoy traveling from taking a cruise to Alaska to camping and seeing the West.
Carol was a member of the Morton United Methodist Church where she spent many years volunteering and as a member of their bell choir. In 2011 Carol and husband, Charles, moved from Morton, Illinois to be closer to their children and grandkids in Elkhart. She attended the Faith United Methodist Church in Goshen. Carol enjoyed spending time with family and took all five grandkids camping making lifelong cherished memories. Even in pain and with challenging mobility, Carol never missed a holiday or birthday. Her steady, loving grace and presence will be deeply missed by all. She was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed reading and knitting. She loved Bing Crosby, The Bill Gaither Trio and all the old musicals.
Carol is survived by Charles, her loyal husband of 62 years who cared for her until her last breath. She will forever be adored by her daughter, Brenda Jo (Eric) Overbey and son, Kevin (Staci) Fort. Her grandchildren, Beau Dries, Haili Fort, Emily (Brandon) Kauffman, Nate Overbey and Rose (Sam) Hernandez will keep her forever in their hearts. Carol's great grandchildren, Liam, Charlie, and Annabelle Kauffman were the joys of her life and will miss entertaining her and giving her warm hugs.

On Monday, December 19, beginning at 4 p.m. friends and family will gather to visit prior to the Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen, Indiana.
