Carol Cohen, 76, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home in The Village of Pennecamp with her family by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1944 to Irving and Lillian Stockman and later moved to Monticello, NY, where she met her childhood sweetheart and later husband, Bob (Robert) Cohen.
Carol graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in English Literature in 1966. She worked as high school English teacher in Massachusetts for several years and had a passion for doing whatever she could to help students grow and be all they could be. She paused her career to raise her two beloved children and later returned to teaching after they were grown. The family lived in the woods of New Hampshire until Carol and Bob moved to The Villages in 2010.
Carol cherished spending time with the family and friends and surrounded herself with photos, books, art, magnets, and other treasured items that reminded her of special moments with loved ones. At The Villages she could often be found clipping trees and tending to the flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling, golfing, talking to neighbors, petting dogs, and walking the Pennecamp Loop.
She will be greatly missed. Carol is survived by her loving husband Bob, daughters, Susanne and Diane Cohen, sister, Mona Williams, and grandson, Jonah Gottesman. A private memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM and shared via Zoom. A recording will be saved for those not able to join us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's name to Moffitt Cancer Center, in Tampa, Florida.
