Carol Ann Giles, 82, passed away December 3, 2021 at her home in Epping, NH after a period of declining health. She was born January 20, 1939 in Haverhill, NH, daughter of the late Richard C. Allbee who died in 1994 and Mary Jane (Rollins) Allbee who died in 2002,
Carol grew up in North Haverhill, NH and she was 1 of 5 children in her family. She was a graduate of Haverhill Academy. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Richard V. Giles and they resided in Epping, NH for many years. Carol's professional career started in bookkeeping for her husband's business in which she took a home study course to educate herself properly. Then she was an Avon Representative, and lastly for many years, she was the head cashier at the Exeter Shaw's until her retirement. Later she became a devoted homemaker and she loved baking cookies and giving them to the NH DOT, Epping Well and Pump Co, 27 Automotive's owner Shawn Thorsell and the neighbors.
Carol enjoyed the outdoors, gardening vegetables and flowers, picking berries, feeding the birds and squirrels and doing yard work. She loved knitting, her trips to her hometown of North Haverhill to visit family and friends, her trips to Florida with her husband to spend time with special friends, Robert and Jowellyn Cote and their children and grandchildren, trips to Germany with her son Kenny and mother Mary to visit John and Ruthie Page, trips to Seattle, WA to visit her niece Jennifer and husband, Clay McCandless. Carol enjoyed scrapbooking and making photo albums of all her family. She was known as "Auntie" to all her nieces and nephews. She also loved listening to country and western music and her favorite singer in the whole wide world was Elvis.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her loving husband on July 8, 2008.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Giles of Epping, NH, her beloved cat, Sophie, sister, Marjorie Allbee McCoomb of Newport, NH, brother, David W. Allbee of N. Haverhill, NH, sister and husband, Ruthie and John Page of N. Haverhill, NH, brother and wife, Donald A. and Linda Allbee of Berlin, NH, nephews, Nick Thayer, David Allbee Jr., Daniel A.Page, Shawn Allbee, Scott Allbee, Stephen Allbee, nieces, Tracy Allbee Page, Jennifer Mary Page McCandless, Sarah Allbee, and many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
At Carol's request there will be no calling hours or memorial service.
A graveside service will be held at Center Haverhill Cemetery, North Haverhill, NH in the spring to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Disabled American Veterans through dav.org, or the NH Tilton Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276.
