Carmen (Mooney) Prine of St Michael passed from this life to the next on January 8th after a 4 1/2 year cancer journey. Carmen's quick smile, generous hospitality, and devotion to her family have marked her life to the very end. Her steadfast faith and practice of helping younger women understand how faith works in real life allowed her to have an influence she is yet to see.
Apart from devoting time and energy to her children and grandchildren, Carmen invested a significant part of herself in working with refugee women in Houston through Prestige Learning Institute. With PLI, Carmen was able to build meaningful and redemptive relationships through the vehicle of teaching English language skills. Her time with PLI was some of the most rewarding in her later years.
Carmen was born to Clay and Helen Mooney of Maple Lake in November of 1957. She graduated from Maple Lake High School and St Cloud State University before joining the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. Carmen and Ken were married in 1984. She has been blessed with three daughters, three sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. Carmen is survived by her husband Ken of St Michael and daughters Kelsey (Nathan) Drews of Roseville, Hannah (Paul) Dirkse of Ramsey, and Abby (Ryan) Lawson of Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmen's memory can be made to Prestige Learning Institute at www.prestigelearninginstitute.org and using the Donate button.
