In Loving Memory of Carlos R. Lafayette, 88, of Spring, Texas who passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in Tomball, Texas. Carlos was born on August 10, 1932, to Fred V. and Lorena (Cavender) Lafayette. He was a 1951 graduate of Conroe High School and attended Texas A&M. It was at Texas A & M where he realized he was a true Texas rancher at heart. Over the years, he managed several ranches in Texas, finally owning his own ranch in Dobbin where he will be laid to rest. After A&M Carlos went to work for Humble Oil Refinery/Exxon and retired in 1980 after 30 years of service.
He proudly served in the US Army while stationed in Germany during the Korean era. Carlos lived and raised his family in Tomball. After many years, he met and married his love, Shirley in 1998. They moved to Bentwater then later Spring, Texas where they lived until his passing. Carlos had a down to earth personality among his peers and was a devoted, faithful husband and father to his family. His kindness towards others and love for all animals was evident in his everyday life.
Carlos is survived by his loving family: son and daughter-in-law, Marc Lafayette and wife, Mary Ella Walters; daughter and son-in-law, Keely Lafayette Mobley and husband, Mike; wife of 23 years, Shirley Kelley Lafayette and her daughter, Kim Strenger and husband, Jim; and son, Mitch Kelley (deceased); grandchildren, Bennett Mobley, Hannah Mobley and Julie Mobley, Megan and Carleigh Strenger, and Kennedy Kelley; a host of dear relatives and friends also survive.
