Funeral service for Carl Leslie Walker, Jr., 71, of Cyril, Oklahoma will be held 2:00p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Cyril First Baptist Church with Hoby Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday from 12p.m. to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Carl passed away on Tuesday, Augst 27, 2024 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 71. Carl Leslie Walker Jr. was born March 3, 1953 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Carl Leslie, Sr. and Winnie Joan (Langford) Walker.
Carl was raised in Cyril and graduated as salutatorian from Cyril High School in 1971. He attended Oklahoma University and received his degree in political science in 1975.
Carl worked 33 years with the General Motors Corporation where he spent most of his time in the paint shop and six years in the body shop, before retiring in 2012. Upon retiring from GM, Carl moved back home to Cyril and has served as Mayor there for the last three years.
Carl will be missed for his wit, his care for people, his spaghetti, and his dear love for his cats.
Carl is survived by his two brothers: Kirt Walker and his wife Melody of Norman and Eric Walker and his wife Shannon of Cyril; his aunt JoAnn McClure of Cyril; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
