Carl Edwin Pitchford, 80, of Sissonville, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 after a long battle against cancer.
He was born on May 11, 1939 in Liberty, to the late Ivan John and Belva Pitchford.
Carl was a U.S. Army veteran and an avid farmer. He was a 1959 graduate of Poca High School and retired from Monsanto after 30 years of service. He loved discussing the Bible with anyone that was willing to listen. His goal in meeting someone new was to find out if they were a Christian and if they attended church. If not, he would always encourage them to attend church. He loved listening to classical music and he also loved the gospel music of the Chuck Wagon Gang. He was a founding member of the R.O.M.E.O. Club (retired old men eating out), that met twice a month at Your Family Restaurant in Kenna. He attended various churches, including Emma and Wade Chapels, with the last one being Fishers Chapel UMC, where he was a member of the church choir, served on the evangelist committee, the church board, and was a past superintendent.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Richard and Arnold Pitchford.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Joyce Pitchford; former wife, Deanna Pitchford of Confidence; son, Brian Pitchford (Lisa), of Mims, FL; daughter, Lisa Warner (Gary) of Red House; grandchildren, Jason Warner (Kristin), Connor Pitchford, Madeline Pitchford, Ian Pitchford, Cydney Justice; brother, Delbert Pitchford (Nancy) of Eleanor; sisters-in-law, Janet Pitchford of Point Pleasant, Lorene Coffey Pitchford of Dunbar, Janet Jones (Ray) of Sissonville, Jo Ann Hunt of Sissonville; one great-grandchild and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
