Help us celebrate Carl! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Carl.
Carl August Meyer, age 97, of Patton, Missouri, passed away in the early morning hours of June 14th, 2022.
He born to John and Emily Meyer in St. Louis where he resided until he met and married his wife of over 50 years.
Carl served in the Merchant Marines on the USNS Rose Knot, and then in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He returned home to his family in the Saint Louis area, raising one son, Wayne Meyer.
In the early 1980s, Carl and his wife Lou moved with family to Patton, Missouri where he spent the rest of his years making friends in the community and serving the Patton United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, and carrying out maintenance duties until his penchant for personal disaster finally forced him to pass the torch. Though he was never able to return home to the community he loved directly, he was able to return to Missouri after an extended stay in Arizona through the pandemic and was grateful for the time he was able to spend with his friends and family that visited him. He is survived by his son, Wayne, his grandchildren, Derek and Amanda, his cousin, Judy, nieces and nephews, and many friends in the community whom he also considered family. Services will be held June 25th, 2022, at 1230 at the Patton United Methodist Church in Patton, Missouri. All who would like to join us in tribute to him are welcome to attend.
