Ellerslie, Md - Carl D. Emerick, 60, of Ellerslie passed away October 7, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland.
Carl, who was known as Doug to his family, was born May 27, 1961 in Meyersdale; he was the son of George and Cinda (Ohler) Emerick. He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Emerick and a brother, David Emerick.
Survived by his wife, Faye (Baker) Emerick; daughters, Tawney Emerick and Linzi Emerick, and his dog and best companion, Rolf; sisters, Edith Mills and husband Gary, Jennifer Smihal and husband John; niece, Rebecca Smihal; nephew, Zachary Mills; sisters-in-law, Linda Burgess, Cathy Clayton and husband Stanley, Joanna DuVall and husband Greg, Deborah Hormuth and husband Paul; mother-in-law, Leona Baker, his porch buddy.
Carl and Faye met at her family's cabin in Fairhope when Faye was 15 and Carl was 18. They fell in love and after only 6 years of dating they married on June 22, 1985. Carl and Faye have two beautiful daughters who he loved so much. Six years ago, they added his favorite companion, Rolf, to the family. Carl and Rolf were inseparable. He trained Rolf and walked him every day. Carl would always stop and talk to everyone on his walks.
Carl was a member of the Western Maryland Street Rod Association. Carl's been an active Hot Rodder for 40 years. He was adamant that he was a hot rodder and not a street rodder. Carl made so many good friends through his love of hot rods. He was a 1979 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley School and was a very talented artist and graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Carl worked at Northrop Grumman.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Saturday October 16, 2021 from 11 am to 2 pm where a service will follow at 2 with Pastor Sandy Hetz Burchell officiating. All who visit, must wear a mask.
