Carl Ray Brown (Poppy) - age 66 of Rutledge passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Poppy loved spending time with his family, the Vols, and riding his Harley. He was a member of Lea Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from the City of Morristown Public Works. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Marion Brown; brothers, Alan Brown and Wayne Brown; and sister, Ann Collins. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, DeRonda Sue Brown; son, Quinton (Christi) Brown of Rutledge; daughter, Carla Blackmon (fianc?e- Brandon Lain) of Johnson City; grandchildren, Morgan Brown, Marissa Brown, Brandon Collins, Dawson Brown, and Kendrick Avery; special nephew, Garrett Brown; sister, Debby Slagle of Blaine and Renae Wilson (Rudy Fernandez) of Strawberry Plains; adopted sister, Deb Mitchell; adopted brothers, Mike Wells and Roger Strange. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Diane Wilson with Amedisys Hospice, Dr. John F. Cooper, Lori Wilkerson, NP, and Dr. Robert Pollock. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, March 26, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Paul Owens officiating. The funeral service may be viewed securely on the Bridges Funeral Home website. Family and friends will meet 10:00 AM on Saturday at Bridges Funeral Home and go in procession to Grainger Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM interment. Pallbearers: Quinton Brown, Matthew Brown, Michael Brown, Justin Stalsworth, Jeff Dixon, and Jeff Stallings. Honorary pallbearers: Reece Morgan, Ralph Webster, Mike Wells, Steve Smelcer, Wayne Estes, Dallas Jones, Roger Strange, Rudy Fernandez, Ray Jones, and Bobby Graham.
