Candis Kenner Wells, age 69, of Palestine, Texas, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, the 15th day of July 2022, with her devoted husband by her side. "Candy" as she was affectionately known, was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on the 3rd day of June 1953, to parents Gerry Kenner and Joan Kilcrease.
Candy graduated from Kerens High School in 1971. After high school while attending T.V.C.C., Candy was awarded the President's Award for her outstanding educational growth, improvement, and her commitment to her academic studies. Upon graduating, Candy worked in the oil field most of her career as a bookkeeper at G & G Equipment and co-owner of Pumping Services.
Candy had a genuine personality that people gravitated toward. She always had a warm smile and a kind word. Not only did she give of her time, but she was also generous with her finances. She never hesitated when she saw someone in need. Candy also had a passion for helping all kinds of animals. Rufus and Jethro, her beloved dogs, had a special place in her heart.
Candy was an active member of the Palestine community. She dedicated much of her time in several clubs and organizations throughout her life including, Cars of Palestine, Commemorative Air Force, Altrusa International of Anderson County, Association of Desk and Derrick, XAGL-Beta Sigma Phi, and she was also a longtime member of Harvey Woman's Club.
Candy is preceded in death by her mother, Joan Kilcrease, and parents, Gerry and Peggy Kenner.
Even though she has departed to her heavenly home she will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her including her loving husband of 29 years, Jim Wells; son, Andrew Craig Sessions and wife Chris; parents, Kenneth and Patsy Kilcrease; sisters, Kathy Jo Commiato and husband Dave, Mary Kay Corman and husband Danny Ray, Kristi Archer and husband Ray; brothers, Chris Kenner and wife Glenna, Bobby Alexander and wife Francis, Bert Kilcrease and wife Carolyn, and Kenny Kilcrease and wife Natalie; sister-in-law, Linda Keeton and husband Stan; and her beloved dogs, Rufus and Jethro. Candy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a multitude of friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, on Monday, the 18th day of July 2022, at Rhone Funeral Home.
Funeral services to celebrate Candy's life are to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, the 19th day of July 2022 at Evangelistic Temple, 3011 Loop 256, Palestine, Texas 75801, with Chris Kenner and Mike Johnston officiating the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Park.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Ted Manker, Steve Shook, Danny Ray Corman, Dave Commiato, Chad Thornton, and Ray Archer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions be made to BARC, The Humane Society, P.O. Box 63 Palestine, TX 75802.
