Calvin Carl Freeman, age 68. of Rome, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Freeman was born in Rome, Georgia on July 7, 1953, son of the late Calvin Coolidge Freeman and the late Lela Lovina York Freeman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Gail Culberson Freeman, by a grandson, Christopher George Beard, by a sister, Joyce Cain, and by two brothers-in-law, Paul Lyle Cain and Leonard Abernathy. Mr. Freeman was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Skyline Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, he worked as a machinist at General Electric in Rome.
Survivors include three children, Chris Freeman, Calvin Wayne Freeman, and Carla Cheyenne Freeman; a stepdaughter, Sonya Tara Satcher; two grandchildren, Gaven Troy Freeman and Tara Shay Hodge; a brother, Mark Freeman (Greta); a sister, Geneva Abernathy; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Bro. John Dorsey officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1pm until the service time.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday at 1:30pm and include: Chris Freeman, Phil Cain, Todd Jones, Kevin Jones, Skye Dorris, Hunter Cain, Kyle Cain, Alex Freeman, and Lamont Ivey.
