C. Edward "Ed" Hall, formerly of Purcellville, Virginia, passed away of dementia related natural causes on January 11, 2021. It was his time.
Ed Hall was born a farmer in Middleburg, Virginia on July 9, 1928 to the late Clarence W. and Goldie L. Hall. He had one older brother Lawrence (deceased). He is survived by his former wife, Jean T. Hall of Purcellville; three children, David T. Hall (Brenda deceased) of Purcellville, Susan H. Verdin (John) of Waterford, and Jeffrey L. Hall (Pam) of Hamilton; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, as well as his sister-in-law, Marie J. Hall.
Ed Hall grew up in Loudoun County and graduated from Lincoln High School, starring in both football and baseball (catcher). He initially worked on the family dairy farm, but after a bad automobile accident, he transitioned to the Pentagon as a computer programmer for the Air Force (27 years), and concluded his vocational life selling Real Estate in Loudoun County (25 years).
Ed Hall enjoyed life and loved his family. He was in the Purcellville Lions Club (President), was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, as well as a stockholder in Loudoun Golf and Country Club (President). Ed loved the Washington Redskins, a season ticket holder for more than 50 years. An avid sports fan, he bowled, played golf, and more than held his own playing cards, rolling dice, watching the ponies run, and enjoying a cocktail with the boys.
Many thanks for the exceptional care and service provided by the staff of Poet's Walk Leesburg, which Ed Hall called home for the last year and a half of his life.
The family will hold a private graveside service at a future date and host a remembrance social this spring or summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church (Purcellville) Building Fund, P.O. Box 487, Purcellville, Virginia 20134.
