NORTH LIBERTY - Buthyl L. "Lewie" Reed passed away on Saturday April 3, 2021, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton following an illness. He was born on December 2, 1938, in Goshen to the late Buthyl W. "Boots" and Lucille (Corn) Reed and was 82 years-old at the time of his death.
Lewie lived in the area most of his life. He was a retired Warehouse Supervisor with Howmet in LaPorte. On April 23, 1960, he married the late Elizabeth Alwine, and on September 2, 2002 in North Liberty he married Eileen (Huhnke) Clark who survives.
He played in a band for over 30 years and was in multiple golf leagues in LaPorte. Lewie enjoyed fishing, IU basketball (especially Coach Bobby Knight), and Notre Dame football and women's basketball. Most of all he cherished his family dearly as was evident by attending most of their various activities including sporting, musical, and theatrical events. His favorite was attending all the Grandparents' Day events. Lewie also had a special spot in his heart for his beloved dog Peanut.
Lewie is survived by his wife Eileen of North Liberty; one son David Reed of South Carolina; one daughter April (Scott) Piotrowicz of Noblesville; one stepdaughter Veronica (Matt) Kimery of Sanford, FL; three grandchildren Dennis (Sierra) Tinkey of New London, North Carolina, Adam (Heather) Piotrowicz of Portage, Michigan, and Kelsey (Nathaniel) O'Dell of Westfield; one stepgrandson Vincent Kimery of Altus, Oklahoma; and five great grandchildren Larkyn, Hunter, Lily, Elliot, and Hazel. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Elizabeth.
Lewie's wishes were to be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service held July 24, 2021, at the Walkerton United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EDT at the church. Service will be held at 12:00 EDT. To leave online condolences visit rannellsfh.com.
