Passed away at his home unexpectedly on Saturday, October 31, 2020, age 75 years. Nellie was born in Lebanon, WI on November 28, 1944 to the parents of Fred and Ella (nee Uttech) Wegner. Nellie married Judith (nee Rennhack) on May 16, 1964 at St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wi. Nellie is survived by his wife Judith for 56 years. Loving father of Lisa (Andy Schuster) Kuester, Tony (Kathy) Wegner, Katie (Ben) Gomez, Gina (Kenny) Kurtz and Ryan (Becky) Wegner. Cherished and loving grandpa of Dillon, Hannah, Chloe Kuester, Tony B., Lucas Wegner, Adam, Eli, Oliver Hoefler and Emily Huber, Angel (Adam) VanderSteeg, Monique (Dylan) Koltz, Nathan Gomez, Ethan, Makaela Kurtz, Brady, Jake Wegner, Justin (Tabitha), Aaron and Ryan Kumbier. Great-grandpa of Ava, Ashton VanderSteeg, Jackson, Isla Koltz and Bentley Kumbier. Brother of Glorice Indra, Pearl Schuenke, Ellen Woik, Geraldine (David) Van Dyke and Jean (Dave) Krueger. Further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, a very dear friend and neighbor, Oswaldo Viedma, other relatives and friends.
Nellie is preceded in death by a great-grandson Hunter Koltz, sisters; Evelyn Bocher, Lilas Ohrmundt, LaVera Pusch and brothers; Marvin , Oliver , Wayne, Vernon Wegner.
Visitation Friday, November 6th at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 615 Jones Street from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 5:00 PM. Interment Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia. If desired, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
Nellie graduated from Watertown High School in 1964 and was a wrestler all 4 years of High School. Nellie was a member of Brick Layers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union #8 since 1966. He worked for Condura Construction, Oliver Construction and Walsh Construction until his retirement in 2006. He was active for many years playing softball in various rec leagues in Lebanon, Watertown, Ixonia and various bowling leagues in Watertown. After high school Nellie joined the Army National Guard.
