It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bruce Cameron Thompson of Terryville, Connecticut on January 18, 2021 at age 58. Bruce was born in Massena, New York on February 4, 1962, the son of Stewart and Pauline (Ashley) Thompson. Bruce was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his longtime companion Sarah Dowie; sisters Stephanie Premo (Tom) and Laurie Grove (Robert); nephews Brian Premo, Derek Premo (David) and Alexander Grove; and many cousins. Bruce graduated from Massena Central High School in 1980. After graduation he worked at the Massena Elks Club and was a member of the Massena Volunteer Fire Dept. He also served as a member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department for 4 years and worked numerous places. Bruce moved to Connecticut 20 years ago where he went to work for Connecticut Power and Light, now Eversource, until his passing. He was a member of the Wolcott Land Owners Protective Association. He was an avid hockey fan of the the Toronto Maple Leafs, enjoyed watching and attending Syracuse University basketball games. He also spent many afternoons in New York City attending Mets baseball games. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards and traveling. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of UCONN Medical Hospital for their care and compassion toward Bruce and his family. A gathering of family and friends will take place on May 15, 2021 from 12-2pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave, Bristol. There wil be an additional gathering in Lake Placid, NY, at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bruce's memory to the local ambulance service in Terryville, the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, or the Massena Volunteer Fire Department.
