Bruce Schroer, age 87, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN died February 22, 2024 at Tennova Hospital two weeks after a fall in his home.
He was born in Palatka, FL and grew up in Maywood, IL. After high school, he received his BS from Simson College in Iowa. He had a long career at Illinois Bell and AT&T residing in Wheaton, IL and Grand Rapids, MI.
After retiring, he became a driver for a small parcel delivery company, a role which he thoroughly enjoyed. He became a licensed pilot in his forties and was an avid golfer. In 2000 he relocated to Tellico Village and relished his life there. He was a founding member of Rainbow Linksters, and he became an active member and former treasurer of the Tellico Village Solo Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Babette, and his son, Steven. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Schroer of Tellico Village and nephews and nieces.
Service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The Community Church at Tellico Village.
In lie of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
