Bruce Edward MacMurtrie, 64, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 06, 2021.
Bruce was born on August 31, 1956 to LeRoy and Grace (Reed) MacMurtrie in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania. As a young man he started working for UPS as a delivery driver. After 38 years of service to UPS he retired with numerous awards and recognitions. He also served as a Union Steward for Teamsters Local 776. Bruce was an avid horseshoe player, pool player, and loved to play poker with friends. He enjoyed watching and playing baseball, as well as listening to classic rock. Later in life, Bruce loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Bruce is preceded by his brother Todd MacMurtrie and grandmother Stella Reed. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Reed) MacMurtrie, his parents LeRoy and Grace MacMurtrie, his sons Brandon MacMurtrie and Aaron (Heather) MacMurtrie, his daughters Jennifer (Ricky) MacMurtrie-Nelson and Julia (Kyle Peters) Reed, his brother Michael (MaryPat) MacMurtrie, his sisters Hope Bowling and Faith (Leigh) Zahm, his siter-in-law Carol MacMurtrie, his seven grandchildren Conner Nelson, Sophia Nelson, Elayna Nelson, Olivia MacMurtrie, Peyton MacMurtrie, Jackson MacMurtrie, and Rowan MacMurtrie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service held at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, on Friday, March 12, 2021 starting at 2:00 P.M. For those wishing to join virtually via Zoom, please reach out to the funeral home for more information.
In keeping with current health guidelines, attendees are encouraged to exercise proper precautions including the wearing of face coverings and appropriate social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Compassionate Care Hospice in Bruce's memory.
