Bronislawa ("Bernice") Walkowiak, born in Poland in 1930, died December 10 at her home in Penacook with family by her side. She was the widow of Edmund Walkowiak, who died in 2004.
She trusted in the promise of happily reuniting with those who predeceased her: in addition to her husband, her parents, all her brothers, several sisters, and in-laws. Survivors include her daughter Ursula Maldonado, son-in-law Luis N. Maldonado, and grandsons Luis E. Maldonado and Calvin Maldonado (with his wife May Lynn Forssen), as well as three older sisters and numerous extended family members.
She enjoyed busy, active days, taking care of her home, staying in touch with family and friends, following and commenting on the news, and reading. She was a talented cook and baker, continuing to prepare traditional favorites for her family and friends. Her needlework was exquisite. She had a great capacity for affection, humor, and compassion, and she will be deeply missed.
Respecting her concern for public health, private burial took place at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Bedford NH on December 19. Those wishing to honor her memory can:
