Chickasha: Brian Scott Zalewski, 50, passed away, on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Chickasha.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, with Chaplin Kim Hayes and Fire Chaplain Richard Prather officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Brian was born Saturday, October 28, 1972, in Enid, to Betty Jean Nicholson. He had lived in Chickasha for the last 8 years. Brian married the love of his life, Kimberly Hudson, on October 16, 1993, in Rush Springs. He and Kim celebrated more than 29 years of marriage together at the time of his passing. Together, they made two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Jessica. Brian attended numerous colleges while earning his degree and certifications. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Technology and Disaster Management from Oklahoma State University. Brian worked in emergency services for many years and held many different titles. He served as a firefighter, fire chief, paramedic, critical care paramedic, nurse (RN), flight nurse, deputy sheriff, and also a paramedic instructor. He was currently employed by Integris Baptist Hospital as a nursing supervisor of the ER and a flight nurse/paramedic for Survival Flight. Brian was also a member of many different organizations such as the Fire Marshall's Association, OSFA, OFCA, OKEMA, IAAI, and Heartland Medical Direction where he was a paramedic instructor. Brian's true passion was serving and protecting his community and caring for others. He is very well respected and was a staple within Oklahoma's Emergency Services as he saved and touched the lives of many. Brian was a devoted husband, a loving father, and with his first granddaughter Sadie born just last week, a proud Granddaddy. He loved his family more than anything and he enjoyed spending time with them any chance he had. The legacy Brian has left behind will serve as a living tribute in his memory. He will be deeply missed in the days to come.
Brian leaves behind his loving wife, Kim of the home, 2 daughters, Lauren Sims and husband Cody of Edmond, and Jessica Light and husband Login of Chickasha, granddaughter, Sadie Sims of Edmond, mother and step-father, Betty and Lyle Smith, brother, Doug Smith of Las Vegas, sister, Kay Smith of Las Vegas, and mother-in-law Geneva Hudson. He also leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, and former colleagues from the fire departments, sheriff departments, and hospitals.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gina Zalewski, and father-in-law, Buddy Hudson.
