Brian D. Miller, age 59, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Elmer Brinkman will officiate. Music will be provided by Lorraine Nieuwsma as soloist and Lesa Dahl as organist. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 9:30 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at the chapel in Watertown on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to the service on Saturday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Woodland, Jim Woodland, Marshall Smith, Doug Schmidtgall, Steve Waples, Mike Laurenz, Russ Berndt, Dave Nesheim, John Casey and Gary Swanson.
Brian was born on June 13, 1960, to Virgil and Evelyn (Davis) Miller, in Sioux City, IA. He was a 1978 graduate of Clark High School and also graduated from LATI in the Machine and Lab Tech programs. Brian later attended SDSU in Brookings and NAU. He worked machining on the West Coast, then moved back to Watertown and worked at First Premier Bank Card in customer care. Brian later moved to Sioux Falls, SD, and then back to Hayti, SD, where he and Michelle have lived since 2017. Brian enjoyed riding his motorcycle and he was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Penguins fan. His family, especially his granddaughters, meant the world to him.
Brian is survived by his fiance, Michelle VanBeek of Hayti, SD; his son, Matt (fiance Dalaina Dunham) of Hayti, SD; two grandchildren, Ellie and Ava Miller; his mother, Evelyn Miller of Watertown, SD; his brother, Shawn Miller of Florence, SD; and his sister, Kimberly (Ralph) Duke of Sioux Falls, SD and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to the Pit Bull Rescue Funds or to the Watertown Humane Society.
