Brian Lee McCallum; born on October 10,1960 in Wilmington, NC, the 4th child and second son of Jim and Ardeth McCallum; died unexpectedly of heart failure on August 4, 2021, while on a fishing charter out of Anchor Point, Alaska.
He grew up in Anacortes, WA. His first job in lawn care, he went on to commercial fishing in Anacortes and Alaska. Later, he worked for Texaco Oil Refinery and from there, worked up to become the Senior Planner at VECA Professional Services in Alaska. Brian was a kind, compassionate, and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He had many friends everywhere he went. He was jovial and generous; and loved communicating; genuinely interested in others. He fiercely loved his family, friends, and dogs (which he named after his stepdad and father-in-law). He enjoyed outdoor activities (especially fishing) and games.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, James A McCallum, his stepdad, Hal Partlow and his brother, James Blair McCallum. He leaves behind his wife, Vicky, of 14 years; his daughter Mackenzie; his stepchildren Gary, Jason, and Amanda and 6 grandchildren; his mother, Ardeth Hanks Partlow, his siblings Karen, Kristen, and Beau; cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many beloved friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 18th at Anacortes Christian Church at 2 pm. Masks required.
