Brian Randall Jedlicka passed away at his home in Indio, California, on July 1, 2021, where he was recovering from recent open heart surgery. Born July 6, 1946 in Seattle, Washington.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Jedlicka; step-father, Marvin (Mike) Jedlicka; and sister, Lorraine Parks. He is survived by his wife, Pam, at their Indio home; step-daughter, Allison Renz (Steve); nephew, Randall Parks; niece, Angela Darby (Walter); great nephew, Wesley Darby; grandson, Jordan Norr (Megan) and their 3 children, Leona, Joseph and Hunter; granddaughter Megan Leonard (Chad) and their 3 children, Halle, Bria and Reed.
Brian grew up in a close knit, outdoor loving family. Many stories of family excursions to southern Washington ocean beaches, enjoying camping, fishing, clamming, crabbing and oyster frys.
The family moved to Mount Vernon, Washington, when Brian was about 10 years old. He reported to school and Al Lyons was assigned to "show him the ropes". Al became a lifelong friend. Brian attended Skagit Valley Junior College; had a 2 year stint in the Army and then attended Central Washington University, where he met another life long friend, Ken Mauerman, and received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in psychology.
He then worked with his parents at Jedlicka Oil in Mount Vernon, until Mike and Mildred retired. He tried out various careers after that and since he was a people person, the best fits for him were many years as an insurance agent, and lastly a social services worker for battered women and pregnant teens at a Washington State Department of Social and Health Services office.
Brian married his wife, Pam, of 43 years in 1978. They met in 1977 at Good Time Charlie's, while Brian was on an elk hunting trip with friend, Tim Cedergreen. No elk was harmed on the trip. Brian and Pam lived at Skagit Golf and Country Club in Burlington, Washington for 38 years. Brian enjoyed many years of golf and camaraderie with friends and acquaintances.
About 15 years into their marriage, a friend offered an unused week in a town house at a golf club in Palm Desert, CA. They stayed at the town house with friends, Dan Mitzel and Patti Burklund. The 4 of them fell in love with desert life and went on to lease and ultimately own residences there. There were many years of traveling, golfing and partying with these 2 friends. One of their best memories was 5th row seats at an Eagles concert at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens.
Brian and Pam bought a small "snowbird" home in Indio, and traveled from CA to WA twice a year for 10 years with their 2 cats, which was quite an adventure in itself. When they decided to reside in Indio permanently, they bought a larger home close to family, Allison and Steve Renz. During the CA snowbird years, Brian and Pam were included in the Taco Tuesday group that resided in Rancho Casa Blanca, Indio, CA. The John Andersons and Rob Hills from Washington, and the Larry Conleys, Gary Marrs, and Mark Thornbergs of Oregon.
At Brian's request there will not be a memorial service. Any charitable donation can be made in his memory to Skagit Valley Humane Society,18841 Kelleher Rd., Burlington, WA 98233.
