Brian Gregory Gast, age 63, of Ann Arbor, passed away at home.
Brian was born September 17, 1955, in St. Joseph, Michigan, the son of Warren E. and Doris L. Gast. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in computer science.
Brian was always willing to offer help and friendly advice to anyone in need. He was an avid reader and cook. He loved sharing a good laugh. Brian enjoyed sports and competition. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a long-time member of dart leagues in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. He was a volunteer with the Arborough Games in Ann Arbor. He did his fair share of carting his son and teammates to and from sporting events. He was a diehard fan of University of Michigan football.
Brian is survived by his son, Christopher (Melissa) Gast of Lowell and grandchildren Nathaniel, Madeleine, and Carolyn; his mother, Lou Gast of St. Joseph; brothers Warren "Putt" Gast (Karen), of Chicago, IL, and Kevin "KC" Gast (Juli) of St. Joseph; uncle Richard Boonstra; cousins Scott (Lisa) Schalon, Susan Schalon, Bill (Sarah) Boonstra, and Jan (Al) Pavlinak; dear friends Deb & Pat Hackett; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Gast; aunts and uncle Ed & Marcie Schalon and Patti Boonstra.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel at 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Brian's name may be made to the Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund.
