It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Matthew Callaway, 53, of Monroe, Georgia. He passed away on April 22, 2025. Brian was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend whose bright spirit touched the lives of many. He was known for his loud booming voice and his laid-back nature.
Born February 26, 1972, in Macon, Georgia, Brian was the son of David and Betty Callaway. He graduated from Morrow High School in 1990 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of West Georgia. Brian also completed the Graduate School of Banking program at Louisiana State University.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, David Callaway; grandparents, Ware and Virginia Callaway, Harles and Lois Tucker; and his aunt, Teresa Haney.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kim Callaway; daughters, Allison (23) and Madison (18) Callaway; mother, Betty Callaway; sister, Beth Owens, and many extended family members.
Brian worked as a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones Investments for over 10 years, a profession he loved and dedicated himself to. He served on the board of directors at Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale for more than 20 years. He was also a member of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
Brian enjoyed collecting old coins, guns, and knives. He also loved playing poker and other card games with family and friends. He took every opportunity to travel and explore new places, especially casinos. Brian loved going to the movies, mostly for the popcorn. Whether on the road or relaxing at home with his girls, he made every moment fun and special.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brian's life at a visitation on May 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Home in Conyers, Georgia. A memorial service will be held on May 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Mark Haney Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brian's memory to Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale, a cause that meant a great deal to him.
