Brenda Spence Heins, 76, of Gastonia, NC formerly of Raleigh, passed away November 4, 2022.
She was born in Raleigh on September 2, 1946 to the late Oris P. and Glennie Spence. She graduated from Garner High School and Hardbargers Business College. As a young wife she moved away from the Raleigh area, but returned in 1979. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for NCSU and the for IBM, where she met Don Heins. In 1985 they were married and enjoyed 17 years of laughter, love, golf and church volunteer work before his death. In 2003 Brenda moved to Gastonia to be closer to her only child and family. She was fortunate to meet Charles Murdock, and the two were devoted, fun loving companions for nearly twenty years. Her commitment to helping others lead her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2006. She worked at Covenant Village, first as a CNA then as a receptionist. Brenda was a generous person of strong Christian faith, and her guidance, humor and love will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Heins and her brother, Preston Spence.
Brenda is survived by daughter Kelly Andrews and her husband Robert, granddaughters Meredith and Christine Andrews, dedicated companion Charles Murdock, sister-in-law Betty Spence, niece Renee Pendergass (William) and nephew Preston Spence (Jen, Hannah and Ryan), and other extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday November 11 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at Lutheran Chapel Church in Gastonia, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 3:00pm with Pastor Michael Comer officiating
A graveside committal service will be Saturday, November 12 at 3:00pm at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
