Brenda Joyce Edwards

Brenda Joyce Scarberry Edwards, 79, a long-time resident of Plainfield, IN, passed on January 14, 2023 in Charleston WV, after several months of a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lucy Scarberry of Spring Hill, WV, and the loving wife of the late Herbert "Herbie" Edwards. Brenda was the baby of the family. She moved to Indiana soon after high school and met "Herbie", her everything. She loved matching their clothing. She loved the farming life, libraries, PBS, movies, healthy eating, and thrift shopping for her massive collection of clothing. If she would become overwhelmed with life, her go-to was a Coca-Cola and pizza; that would fix everything.

In 2021, she returned to West Virginia, her hometown state. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin, Lawrence Jr., and Kenneth; sisters, Edna, Beulah, Phyllis, and Wilma.

Brenda is survived by her brother, William "Bill" Scarberry; many nephews, nieces and cousins; and her special cousin and best friend, Frances Shumaker of Avon, IN.

Her cousin and Indiana family are having a graveside remembrance service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, in Center Valley Cemetery, Clayton, IN.

Her brother Bill is having a graveside remembrance service at a later date in Fox Hill Cemetery, South Charleston, WV.

Her family wants to thank Frances and her kind family in Indiana for loving Brenda like they did.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, WV.
