Brenda Sue Barnett, 79, of Spencer, W.Va., formerly of Elkview, W.Va., died Saturday, August 10, 2024, at home, after an extended illness.
She was born September 23, 1944, in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of the late Clifton Franklin and Sylvia Mae Pauley Lanham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Smith, Jean Bess, Janet Conley, Jetty Clay and Bonnie Balser; brothers, Clifton Lanham and Harry Lanham.
Survivors include her husband, of nearly 62 years, Kenneth Roger Barnett, whom she married September 14, 1962; daughter and son-in-law, Deana and Terry Kendall of Spencer; grandchildren, Skylar Good and Sinjun Good both of Spencer; step grandchildren, Erin (Jeremy) Stone of Scott Depot, W.Va. and Evan Kendall of Clendenin, W.Va.; step great grandchild, Kendall Stone.
Mrs. Barnett was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former employee of the State of West Virginia and a 1962 graduate of the former Cedar Grove High School, Cedar Grove, W.Va.
The family thanks the nurses and staff of HospiceCare for their professional and compassionate care during Brenda's illness.
