Brenda Ann Barkes, 65, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Brenda was born in Columbus, January 11, 1957, the loving daughter of Max L. and Doris A. Adams Barkes.
Brenda received her practical nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette, Indiana. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, Franklin United Methodist Home in Franklin, and Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Brenda enjoyed reading, antique shopping, traveling and beach vacations to Longboat Key, Florida.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her sister, Sue Barkes of Columbus; cousins, Karen Lambert of Columbus and Cheri and Keith Reeves of Columbus; and her faithful friend, her fur baby, Emmett.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Max Barkes on February 25, 2006 and her mother, Doris Barkes on September 12, 2021.
In keeping with Brenda's wishes, cremation will take place. Private inurnment will take place next to her parents in Sermon on the Mount at the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home and Crematory.
