Bonnie Newkirk, 63, died peacefully in her home on the morning of Monday, February 19, 2024. She passed joyously anticipating entering God's Kingdom of Heaven. Bonnie suffered from complications of diabetes.
Bonnie was born in New Castle, IN to Clifton "Woodie" and Phyllis (Martin) Sorrell. She was raised in the area and graduated from Hagerstown High School. Bonnie became a licensed Health Facility Administrator and managed several nursing homes over her forty year career. Once her children were born she obtained her LPN allowing her to work part time serving children and specializing in ventilators and trach tubes.
Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life, her husband of 46 years, Mike Newkirk; two sons, Mason Newkirk of Fort Mitchell, KY and Maverick Newkirk of Hagerstown, IN; an aunt, Cathy (Al) Brandt of Versailles, OH; two sisters, Marcia Brammer of Bloomington, IN and Amy (Jack) Hayes of Golden, CO; a brother, Joe Sorrell of Richmond, IN and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by their first born son, Noah Newkirk.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
