Bonnie L. Henrichsen, 68, of Castlewood, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021, at American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the church. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bonnie Lou Mennenga was born on January 23, 1953, in Estelline, SD, the daughter of Lewis and Annie (Poppen) Mennenga. She attended Cozy cottage Country School, Estelline grade school for a year, before continuing school and graduating from Castlewood High School. She went on for another year of Vocational School in medical assistance. She was united in marriage to Bill Henrichsen in 1973 at Hamlin Reformed Church. She went to work in Madison, at Dakota Midland Hospital in Aberdeen, and then spent 25 years at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, until she medically retired in 2005, due to her battle with SCA Type 2 Ataxia. Bonnie loved her job and the opportunity it gave her to meet new people.
Bonnie loved reading to her grandchildren and playing games, especially solving Sudoku puzzles. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was a member of American Lutheran Church in Castlewood.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bill Henrichsen; 3 daughters, Carrie Henrichsen, Jennifer (Mike) Brenden and Dawn (Steve) Brockman; five grandchildren, Katelynn, Luke, Ethan, Cash and Layla; her siblings, LaVerne (Linda) Mennenga, Marilyn (Roger) Greenfield, Dale Mennenga and Louann Dahl (special friend, Dave Jensen) along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Waiting in Heaven for his Gramma is Talon William Brockman as well as her parents; mother-in-law, Rose Henrichsen; sister, Judy (Eddie) Van Dykhorst; in-laws, Therlo and Alice Henrichsen, Arlo Henrichsen, Maynard Whitmyre, Bud and Doris LaBrie; nephews, Scott Greenfield, Mike LaBrie and Terry Van Dykhorst, along with several cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
