Bonnie Marlene Black Combs, age 84, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Combs attended Brownstown Church of the Nazarene.
She graduated from Clearspring High School in 1954, and she retired from Carson Chemicals in New Castle in 1990. Bonnie loved spending time with her family, especially her devoted husband, Bill, of 65 years. She also loved spending time with her friends, camping, gardening, spending time outside, especially watching her hummingbirds, and going to Florida during the winter months. Bonnie was a sweetheart and was full of love for everyone she met.
Born on September 19, 1936, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Hollis and Frieda Gibson Black, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 20, 1955, she married John William "Bill" Combs and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2020.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra (Dennis) Upchurch of Lafayette; one son, Dale (Kim) Combs of Valrico, Florida; one granddaughter, Sara Upchurch of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandsons: John (Aimee) Upchurch of Essex Junction, Vermont, Troy Combs of Dover, Florida, and Drew (Tanya) Combs of Lithia, Florida; four great-granddaughters: Aura Upchurch, Taylor Combs, Alexandra Combs, and Emily Combs; one sister, Joella (Joe) Gallion; one brother, Roger (Madeline) Black; sister-in-law, Betty Combs; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Bonnie Marlene Black Combs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jerad Walden officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines. Masks are required when entering the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Robertson Cemetery, Maumee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Medora Goes Pink (HOPE) or Donor's choice.
