BONNIE PATTERSON BROWN of Alabaster, Alabama went home to be with Jesus on April 28, 2020 at the age of 80. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1940 in Odenville, Alabama to Marion and Jewel Patterson.
Bonnie graduated from St. Clair County High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree at Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing (now Samford/Ida Moffett). In 1980, Bonnie graduated from Samford University with degrees in Psychology and Sociology.
Bonnie was married on October 7, 1960 to Dr. Robert (Bob) Brown of Selma, Alabama. Bob & Bonnie met in Birmingham while in school and were married for almost 60 years. She served for many years as an RN and all of her married life as a Southern Baptist minister's wife. Serving in churches in Alabama, Indiana and Florida. Bonnie was also a Church Planting Missionary for the North American Mission Board and the Shelby Baptist Association retiring in 2016.
Bonnie was known for her gift of sewing artistic handmade quilts, growing beautiful Daylilies, her active support of libraries and literacy programs, traveling, spending time with family and of course spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Bob, sons Jon (Linda Fortunis) of Pompano Beach, FL, Jeff of Jemison, AL, grandchildren, Daniel, Hannah, Zachary, Taylor, Ryleigh, great-grandson Elliott and her brother Jimmy Lee Patterson ( Willie Mae "Pete") of Bessemer, AL and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, a drive-in funeral service will be held in front of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located at 1561 County Road 52 Jemison, AL 35085 at 11:00am on Friday, May 1, 2020 with Rev. Bob Brown and Rev. Mike Byers officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
The family plans to hold a celebration of life service once the pandemic has passed.
