Bobby Prislovsky, 84, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, April 24, at Foxbridge Memory Care after a rapid battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School and The University of Memphis with a bachelor's degree in education.
Bobby met Bonnie Roberts in 1960 at Memphis State University Library - apparently a rare place for Bobby to frequent. After a brief engagement, they eloped to Hernando, Mississippi and were married on September 9, 1961. Bonnie preceded Bobby in death in March 2020, also from Alzheimer's disease. They shared a love that lasted almost 60 years and, even at the end, when communication sometimes failed them, each still lit up at the sight and/or mention of the other. Bobby left Bonnie a note to tell her he loved her almost every single day of their marriage. These notes will forever serve as a tribute to their amazing relationship.
Together with Bonnie, Bobby raised and is survived by his two children: Anna Prislovsky Jones (Tony Jones) of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Andrew Prislovsky Allred (Lance Allred) of Memphis, Tennessee. Bobby was also recently preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Charles Prislovsky and his parents, Anna Reba and Andrew Prislovsky, who raised him and his brother on the Prislovsky family farm in Bartlett, Tennessee.
In addition to his children, Bobby is survived by his grand-dog Ellen, whom he cherished, and his ever-present friends and caregivers Linda and Ben Meisler. Bobby also leaves behind his two lawnmowers and his beloved weed-eater, each of which brought him countless hours of joy as he cut many of the neighborhood yards season after season.
Bobby grew up farming soybeans and cotton on the land of the family farm on Highway 70 and continued this tradition into the mid 1980s. Shortly after he was married, he served two years in the US Army-Reserve at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in the Medical Corps as a medic/tech. Following his discharge, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, where he worked until he retired in 2005. Post retirement, Bobby never sat down. There are hundreds of flower beds, tables, Lowe's receipts, and stories upon stories that serve as a testament to this chapter of his life.
Bobby's family thanks Shasta Moss, his long-time caregiver and the staff at the Oak House at Foxbridge Memory Care Center, especially Cesar Yzaguirre and Amy Ray, for their tremendous help in allowing Bobby to live his final days with dignity, peace, and with his tremendous, quick-witted sense of humor.
A visitation/gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate Bobby's life on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 10am-12pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway.
