On August 28, 1958, Bobby Herschel, II was born to Bobbie Herschel Sr. and Betsy Jordan at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda. In his life, he lived all over the U.S. but called Levelland, Texas his hometown.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force starting in 1979, and then joined the Active Reserve in 1990. He was called back to active duty after 9/11, where he continued his work with the Military Police until honorably retiring in 2008. Throughout his time working as a Texas Peace Officer, he worked with Slaton PD, Littlefield PD, and spent time also working for the sheriff's office in both Lubbock County and Lynn County. His final years, before officially retiring as a lawman in 2019, were with TDCJ in Brownfield.
He married Connie Childress on December 18, 1987, in Tahoka, Texas, and stepped into a loving family.
Bobby's favorite things included telling and retelling stories from his decorated career in law enforcement, adventures around the world, and every corny "Dad joke" that made him laugh.
When he wasn't fishing down in Beaumont, you can bet it was somewhere in the back of his mind, or he was watching Swamp Monsters, Monster Catch, or anything on the History Channel. His lap was almost always occupied by at least one dog, or one of his grandkids...and after raising boys, those granddaughters kept him wrapped around their little pinky fingers!
Most of all, he loved his wife and instilled in his sons, strong values to last multiple lifetimes. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and friends that were like family, but his love lives on in our memories.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Jordan; children, Justin Cogburn and wife Jacee, Jordan Cogburn and wife Rebekka, and Tyler Jordan; grandchildren, Whitley, Abigail, and Sawyer Cogburn, Keri, Kati, and Samuel Kolt Cogburn; brother, Michael Jordan and wife Debra; and nephews, Joshua and Austin Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Mark Jordan.
The family of Bobby Jordan has designated the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Cancer Society for memorial contributions donated in his memory.
