Bobby Doyle Johnson, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born on January 2, 1933 in Chickasaw County to Claude Gilbert Johnson and Rena Mae Moore Johnson. He was a farmer and owner of Country Furniture for over 30 years until his retirement. Bobby was a member of Thorn Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Griggs Johnson of Houston; his daughters, Dianne Goodson of Houston, Mary Elizabeth Sanders (Jimmy) of Houston, Bobbie Jean Wright of Houston and Deborah Ann Smith (Calvin) of Ripley; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and long time family member and friend, Fred Webster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Rena Mae Johnson; his sister, Lucille Martin; his brothers Harold "Doodler" Johnson, Denton "Sister" Johnson, and Billy Johnson; his grandson, Zachary Sanders, and his son-in-laws, Jimmy Ray Wright and Leslie Goodson.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel with Brother Tommy Havard, Brother Caleb Bolton, and Brother Chase Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston has the honor of serving his family.
