The family of BJ Hackler will celebrate his life of 78 years at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed peacefully at home on Thursday, June 2, 2022.On February 6, 1944, Billy Jack was born to Jack and Evaughn Hackler in Durant, OK. He married Geri Franks on October 18th, 1968 in Abernathy, Texas. BJ began work with Pioneer Natural Gas in the 1960s. He worked at Atmos Energy for 38 years and retired in 2002 as President of Atmos Louisiana. BJ was a dedicated and successful businessman.Outside of work, BJ was a true outdoorsman. He hunted and fished all of his life with his father and the many friends he made at work and in the community. BJ trained and loved many hunting dogs and pets all of his life. BJ was also an avid golfer, he was a member at Hillcrest Country Club in Lubbock, Texas for 46 years, and also served as board President for 3 years.BJ worked diligently to serve his community and city. He was on the board of University Medical Center at its injunction and worked to bring the hospital to the community. He served as head of volunteer services for the United Way of Lubbock. He volunteered for the Salvation Army, Lion's Club, Rotary Club, and other organizations throughout his life.BJ was also a dedicated husband and father. BJ and Geri were married 53 years.Survivors include his wife, Geri Hackler; their daughter and son-in-law, Lawren and Jim Finley, and grandson Jack Finley.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Evaughn Hackler.We invite you to visit to view the live-streamed service and sign his virtual guestbook here on this page.
