Mrs. Birdie Emma Smith Inglett, age 92, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022.
Mrs. Inglett was born in Floyd County, Georgia, on December 7, 1929, daughter of the late John Wesley Smith Jr. and the late Birdie Estelle Nichols Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Inglett; sisters, Mattie (Charles) Fitzpatrick, Johnnie (Buddy) Curry, Bonnie (Max) Glenn, Joyce (Dallas) Kerce; brothers, Wesley (Glenese) Smith, Ellis Smith, Roy Smith; and one special aunt Eula Walker.
Mrs. Inglett graduated from McHenry High School in 1947 and began work at Pepperell Manufacturing in Lindale. In 1967 the Inglett's moved to Cobb County and soon after she began working as an encoder at the IRS where she retired from. She was a member of Floyd Springs Baptist Church.
Being a descendant of the Boone family, she had a wanderlust that led her to go places and see things she never thought she would, but her favorite place was Panama City Beach where she loved to sit and watch the ocean. Birdie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family, and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her daughters, Chris (Wayne) Holsonback of Rome, Pat (Sam) Ware of Marietta; sister, Irene Pressley of Marietta; brother, Eddie (Faye) Smith of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Sue Smith of Adairsville; 6 grandchildren, Don (Tammy) Holsonback, Daniel (Kim) Holsonback, Andrea Holsonback, Rebecca Carroll, Eddie (Christine) Ware and Jaime Ware; 9 great-grandchildren, Destiney (Patrick) Cadle, Meagan Holsonback, Ella Holsonback, Katelyn Ware, Donavon Holsonback, Marcus Burnett, Jayden Carroll, Jaxon Carroll and James Carroll; 4 great great grandchildren; Thomas, Aurora, Kyrin and Ashton; 15 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 5:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel with the Rev. Steve Alred and the Rev. Billy Carver officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 1:00pm in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway S., Marietta, GA 30060.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday from 4:00pm until time of service.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday at 4:30 pm and include: grandsons; Don Holsonback, Daniel Holsonback, and Eddie Ware, Nephews; Johnny Fitzpatrick, Jeff Curry, Richard Curry, Rodney Smith, and Dallas Kerce; honorary pallbearers, Bill DeHart and Pat MaGivaren.
