Billy Ray Hayes of Tishomingo, Oklahoma passed away on May 27, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born on February 17, 1941 to Hiram and Ola (Purkey) Hayes in Bean Station, Tennessee. Bill moved to Texas in 1962 to be closer to family. He worked as a carpenter as a young man. Bill met his late wife, Earlene Hayes in 1982 in Sherman, Texas. He retired from Sherman Wire after a long career. Bill and Earlene enjoyed camping together at the Kiamchi Mountain camping grounds in Oklahoma. He also enjoyed going fishing on their trips. Bill was a very social person and never met a stranger. He was a very proud father and loved talking and sharing about his children's accomplishments. Bill was a good person and would do anything for anyone. He is survived by his children, Sonya Rangel of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Jerry Needham and wife, Debbie of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Berton "Butch" Needham and wife, Ute of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Karen Bowling and husband, Jay of Denison, Texas, Curtis Ellenburg and wife, Donna of Wylie, Texas, and William Ellenburg and wife, Jodi of Pittsburg, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Hayes; and sister, Jessie Stubblefield. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas, Texas at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
