Billy Hal McMakin was born January 24, 1937 in Van Zandt County. He was a resident of Grand Saline and member of the Church of Christ. He worked as a truck driver, and also building fences. He served as a HUD councilman for Grand Saline, and was also a member of the Texas Square Dance Association and East Texas Square & Round Dance Association.
Hal passed away at the age of 83 on April 1, 2020 in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Bill McMakin, and brother-in-law, Loy Brown Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dolores Songer McMakin of Grand Saline; six children (two biological and four step-children); sister, Anne Hill; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If desired, memorials may be made in Hal's name to the Grand Saline Library.
