Billie Jeanette Payne Masters, of Oxford and Atlanta, Georgia and Washington County Tennessee, passed away Thursday November 18, 2021. She was 94. Her funeral was November 23, 2021 with interment next to her husband C. A. Masters in Stockbridge Georgia.
Billie was born in 1927, second of 8 children of Frank and Lura Payne, and grew up in Washington County. She loved her siblings. She graduated from Washington College Academy in Limestone, Tennessee in 1945, and married C. A. Masters in 1947 moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1953. Billie worked for Davison's Department Store and the Atlanta Board of Education. Billie loved to sew and created beautiful quilts and wall hangings. Billie's greatest passion was her children and grandchildren. She was the power in the family behind every holiday, vacation and family event. Billie's absence will leave a great hole in our family, but the memory of her love and life will sustain us until we meet again. Billie is survived by her children Ronnie Masters, Judy Weegar, Tommy Masters and James Masters and grandchildren Jeanette Weegar, Sara Masters, Hana Waples and Christine Garmon, and great grandchildren Zachary Cause and Iris Waples, and brother Charlie Payne and sister Nancy.
