Graveside service will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022, 2:30 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian with The Reverend A. Austin McGehee officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Billie Jean Powe Drennan, 94, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Anderson Regional Medical Center South in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born on August 20, 1927, in Laurel, Mississippi and was the only child of Ellie Mae Benton Powe and William Taylor Powe.
Billie Jean graduated from George S. Gardiner High School in Laurel. Following World War II, she married Earnest Drennan and moved to Meridian, where they joined St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was very active in the church, she taught Sunday school and was a longtime member of the Women of the Church. For decades, she lovingly served the St. Martha's Altar Guild and was also a member of the Silver Cross Circle.
Billie Jean enjoyed playing bridge with her precious friends. She also enjoyed traveling with Meridian Community College on several trips, including trips to France, Italy, and the Greek Isles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellie Mae and William Powe, her husband, Earnest Wesley Drennan, and her daughter, Cheryl Lee Drennan.
She is survived by cousin, Jim Vaughan (Pam); Godchild, Claire Morris Boler (Michael); friends, Madeline and Ken Morris, Davin Morris Ford (Webster); and all the honorary Connolly cousins. A special thank you is given to Sally Neville for her assistance with Billie Jean.
