Billie Marie Drake, 86 passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 in the chapel of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held 5-7 P.M. Friday, October 18, 2024 at the funeral home.
Billie was born on March 5, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Clarence B. & Alma (Massey) Coleman.
Mrs. Drake was a servant in many capacities, but her true passions were being a mother, homemaker, and caregiver. She was a Sunday School teacher, Boy Scout Leader, she visited nursing homes, she was the lunch lady at Kress schools, worked as a manager for Payless Shoe Source, enjoyed baking, went on a mission trip to Guatemala, and enjoyed picking up children from the Bucknerundefineds Childrenundefineds Home and taking them to the farm. In 2020, she earned a Hidden Heroes Community Caregiver of the Year award from Alzheimerundefineds Texas for her 15 years of dedicated service. She welcomed many in her home and her favorite saying was undefinedLetundefineds just add more beans to the pot or cook more potatoes.undefined
She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Barry Drake, Reece Cobb and Earl D. Young and one son, Johnny Young.
Billie is survived by her children, Coleman Young & wife Melissa of Lazbuddie, TX, Merrie Young of Lazbuddie, Sandra Aven & husband Brett of Plainview, TX and David Drake & wife Kristy of Lake Victor, TX; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Young of Balko, OK; one brother, Bob Coleman of Kress, TX; one sister, LouAnn Dickey of Wiley, TX; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat Alvarez and the staff of Westridge Manor and to Peggy Collins and Dawn Dufresne for their loving care of Billie.
