The family of William Ryland Sedgwick will celebrate his life of 84 years at 2:30 PM on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 17, 2021, also at Lake Ridge Chapel. He passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. In support of the health of everyone, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. The service will be live-streamed at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.
On March 25, 1936, William Ryland (W.R.) was born to James and Mallie (Bagby) Sedgwick in Afton, TX. He relocated to Albuquerque, NM as a young adult, where he met and married the love of his life, Selma Roberts, in 1968. Bill and Selma settled in Lubbock, TX. Bill loved spending time with his family, camping, vacationing, and celebrating holidays together. He loved music and often sang to his family. He retired from TXDOT.
Survivors include his wife, Selma Sedgwick; their children, Lanita (Cliff) Ladd, Laura (Mike) Davidson, and Kim (Dale) Jakeway; grandchildren, Luke Jakeway, Ashlynn Jakeway, Jennifer Campbell, Christy Rosson, and Kyle (Ashley) Walker; and six great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a daughter, Lani Sedgwick; a brother, Dale Sedgwick, and two sisters, Ethel Smith and Callie Giesecke.
