William "Bill" Ray Fisher, 88, of Ashton, died January 6, 2022, at Homestead Senior Living in St. Anthony from natural causes.
He was born November 13, 1933, (a birth date that he shared with his grandpa and brother) in Burley, Idaho to Robert and Fern Gale Stimpson Fisher. He attended schools in Burley and graduated from Burley High School.
Soon after graduating, he joined the US Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
After finishing his service in the military he returned to Idaho and married Julia Harper. Two sons, David and Douglas, were born to this union. They were later divorced. He married Donna Lish and they were later divorced. He was married to Wanda Lewis Tracy at the time of his death.
He worked for many years for the Idaho Transportation Department as an engineer in the Pocatello regional office. He was involved with many projects during the years he was with the department. After his retirement he moved to Ashton.
He loved to hunt and fish and he spent a lot of time doing this with his youngest brother Ronnie. He enjoyed anything outdoors. He and Wanda like to pick huckleberries in the hills around Ashton.
He is survived by his wife Wanda; sons, David Fisher and Douglas Fisher; siblings, Donna Baldwin, Kent (Gayle) Fisher, Ronnie (Loulla) Fisher, Anita (Daryl) Grigg; a sister-in-law, Carol Fisher; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parent; a brother, Wayne Fisher; a sister, Francis Gooch; a grandson, Nicholas Fisher; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Gooch and Donnie Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street in Ashton. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
