Billie Hugh Adams, 94, of Longview, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage, Texas. A graveside service and interment will follow at 11:30 am in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bill was born on August 15, 1930 to Carrie and Jack Adams in Beckville, Texas. He graduated in 1948 from Beckville High School, and on September 26, 1949, he married Norma Lee Howell in Beckville, Texas. They were married for seventy- three years. After a short time working in the pipeline industry and selling cars, he began a twenty-five-year career with Safeway Grocery, with twenty-three years spent as a store manager in Marshall and Longview, Texas. On October 1, 1978, he opened Adams Furniture & Appliance in Longview, Texas. He owned and operated the business until 1998, when he passed the torch to his son. His legacy still lives on today as Adams Furniture & Appliance has grown to four locations with four generations of Adams' continuing the operations.
Through the years, Bill spent time coaching little league baseball and football, cattle ranching, coin collecting, and spending time with family. Bill and Norma regularly opened their home to help anyone in times of need. He also was a thirty-third degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, his brother Doyle Adams, and sisters Casodrey Williams and Elsie Ruth Whitaker.
He is survived by his son Jody Adams and wife, Lisa, of Tyler, Texas and daughter Julie Adams and wife, Luz, of Longview, Texas. His surviving grandchildren are Brian Adams and wife Mandi, and Allsion Adams Gay and husband, Art, all of Tyler, Texas. Great-grandchildren are Jacob Adams, of Tyler, Texas, Trent Adams, of Las Colinas, Texas, and Ellie Adams, of Tyler, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Margie Adams Hargis of Longview, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Adams, Jacob Adams, Trent Adams, Chris Hightower, Ralph Shivers, and David Zuniga.
Special thanks are extended to the loving nursing staff and caregivers of Arabella of Longview, Bluebonnet Point Wellness of Bullard, and Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler.
Flowers are permitted at the funeral home.
