Bev was born on June 30, 1944, to Elmer and Grace (Bergeron) Wickstrom. She attended Cloquet Public Schools and graduated in 1962. On June 22, 1963, Bev was united in marriage to Rodney Niesen in Cloquet, MN. This union was blessed with three sons Chad, Tracy, and Brandon. Bev and Rod made their home in Cloquet until 1969, when they moved to the Onamia area and founded Niesen Logging in 1971. While assisting with the logging company Bev also worked at the Crosier Seminary. Bev and Rod spent their leisure time playing tennis, participating in Bible studies, and watching their sons compete in sporting events. In 1998 Bev moved to Aitkin, MN, to begin a new chapter in her life as a widow. She lived on Hanging Kettle Lake and enjoyed sharing the laughter and fun of lake life with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included feeding the birds, creating stained glass lamps and ornaments, crafting diamond willow furniture, and mosaic art. Bev loved the Lord and was active in all of the churches she attended. She also volunteered at the Rum River Crisis Pregnancy Center and as Bible study leader for the Aitkin County Jail. Bev was an amazing and devoted mother and grandmother! Even though she lost her husband at a young age, she was truly a role model of focusing on the positive, being grateful, and making the most of life. She taught family and friends that life is not about things ... it's about learning how to love. There were many holiday and birthday celebrations hosted by Bev, and the memories she created will never be forgotten. In July of 2019, Bev moved to Alexandria, MN, residing at Alex Assisted Living where she received excellent care.
Bev will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Chad (Jody) and Brandon (Lori); grandchildren, Daniel (Anna), Abigail (Anthony), Kyle (Alli), Chase (Rachael), Austin, and Tamera; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Madelyn, Jace, Rodney, Grayson, Avery, Kennedy, Wyatt, and Abel; brother, Darrel (Virginia) Wickstrom; brother-in-law, Doug (Janet) Niesen; Sister-in-law, Karen (Charles) Sedlander; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Rod; father, Elmer Wickstrom; mother, Grace Bergeron; stepfather, Leonard Wickstrom; son, Tracy; and siblings, Joan Coyer, Jean Ekholm, Dale Wickstrom, and Jane Hugdahl.
May Bev's legacy of love, fun, and gratitude live on through her family and friends. Those planning an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, the family prefers monetary donations be made to St. Croix Hospice or the charity of your choice.
